After nearly 10 years in custody, Gregory Afoko has been granted bail by the court in connection with the murder of Adams Mahama, the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The court set bail at GH₵500,000 with two sureties, a significant legal development in a case that has dragged on since Afoko’s arrest in 2015.
Afoko is accused of conspiring with others to kill Mahama in a brutal acid attack outside his Bolgatanga residence.
The alleged assassination sent shockwaves through the political landscape, leading to a high-profile legal battle.
Despite the bail ruling, the trial remains ongoing as the state continues its prosecution. Afoko’s legal team is expected to mount a strong defense as the case progresses.
