Economic Fighters League, has condemned in no uncertain terms disparaging remarks made by Member Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, with regards to the #FixTheCountry movement.
He is reported to have said that “Slay queens are leading #FixTheCountry campaign because New Patriotic Party ‘big men’ don’t pay”.
The group said the remarks are sexist, mysoginistic and primitive in their disrespect for both women and youth, who have been at the forefront of this keystone moment in Ghana’s history where the 30 year NDC-NPP duopoly is facing a frontal challenge from the nation’s Youth.
EFL said the insulting language also assumes a complicity between NPP and NDC for any of them in doubt that they share traits and behaviours.
According to the Economic Fighters League, such disgraceful conduct should attract the attention of the Parliament’s Privileges Committee.
“Parliament’s Privileges Committee should invite Kennedy Agyapong for his unfortunate comment. They would choose to instead drag citizens before them for speaking against Parliament, perpetuating a culture of intimidation and silence. Yet again the youth are now required to admonish and correct their elders.
“Part of fixing the country is banishing the shameful language and dismissive behaviour exhibited by Kennedy Agyapong.”
The group is mainly young people of different political, religious and ethnic backgrounds united to resolve for a better system and to achieve economic freedom for all.
