The Ghana Standards Authority, has marked this year’s World Standards Day, with an Open Day event, comprising an Exhibition, award of certificates to ARSO Essay Competition winners and a Flag Raising ceremony, held at its head office in Accra.
World Standards Day (or International Standards Day) is a day celebrated internationally each year on 14 October.
The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organisations such as the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and International Telecommunication Union (ITU), among others.
The occasion is used to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardisation to the global economy.
The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi, delivered the key note address, based on the theme: “Standards for SDGs: Shared Vision for a better World.
