The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released an official circular listing 50 unrecognised institutions operating in the country.
The circular revealed that these institutions originate from 18 different countries.
According to GTEC, the United States of America accounts for 23 institutions, nearly 46 percent of the 50 unregistered institutions.
The other institutions are from India, Switzerland, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.
GTEC added that these institutions have failed to meet the accreditation and quality assurance standards required by law.
”The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) wishes to formally notify all Heads of Tertiary Institutions that the ‘institutions’ listed below are currently not recognized by the Commission due to various Accreditation and Quality Assurance breaches. We hope you treat this caution with the seriousness that it deserves in your dealings with them.”
