Gunshots have reportedly been fired as rival factions attempt to destool the Abetifihene, Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyeman II.
Details of the situation remain unclear, but footage obtained by Myrepubliconline.com shows a blockade on the main road leading to the Abetifi Presbyterian Training College and surrounding areas.
According to a driver who spoke with Republic FM’s Nana Effah on the Republic Work Hour Show, several vehicles have been stranded on the road either heading to Abetifi from Nkwatia or approaching from that direction.
A source close to the situation told Republic Online’s reporter Andy Frimpong Manso that Abetifihene, Nana Akyeamfour Asiedu Agyeman II was taken hostage by a rival group claiming to have destooled the chief. The group asserts authority over the Kwahu Traditional Council.
However, Republic Online has been reliably informed that members of the National Investigations Bureau intervened and successfully rescued the Abetifihene from the violent faction.
