The Gyapoomu Royal Family has appealed to His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene in their current chieftaincy issue.
In a press statement released, the Royal Family claimed a self-proclaimed Omanhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, Kwaku Soro, is illegitimately utilizing a gazette he acquired unlawfully to coerce the security forces and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) through the Registrar of the Traditional Council.
According to the Royal Family, the self-proclaimed Omanhene and his cohorts aim to intimidate the Nananom (local chiefs) and any members of the Royal Family who refuse to recognize Kwaku Soro as the rightful Omanhene.
The statement added that Nana Ata-Fosu Owusu Ababio, the Asamanhene and spokesperson for the Royal Family, along with the Omanhemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Morosa Dudaa-Kani, admitted that Kwaku Soro is a member of the Gyapoomu family.

In a heartfelt plea, the Gyapoomu Royal Family of Nkoranza has called upon His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene in their current predicament.
The family claims that the self-proclaimed Omanhene of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, Kwaku Soro, is illegitimately utilizing a Gazette he acquired unlawfully to coerce the security forces and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) through the Registrar of the Traditional Council.
Their alleged aim is to intimidate the Nananom (local chiefs) and any members of the Royal Family who refuse to recognize Kwaku Soro as the rightful Omanhene.
During a press conference held at the Omanhemaa’s palace, Nana Ata-Fosu Owusu Ababio, the Asamanhene, and spokesperson for the Royal Family, along with the Omanhemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Morosa Dudaa-Kani, admitted that Kwaku Soro is a member of the Gyapoomu family.
However, they clarified that he was not nominated by the queen mother, who traditionally holds the exclusive right to select a candidate for the Baffo Pim Stool after the passing of Okatakyie Agyeman Kodom approximately seven years ago. Additionally, Kwaku Soro has not taken the oath of allegiance to His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the recognized owner of the Baffo Pim Stool of Nkoranza.
Nana Asamanhene expressed the Royal Family’s deep concern over Kwaku Soro’s alleged employment of thugs to target Nananom who remain loyal to the Paramount Queen Mother. He substantiated his claims by presenting evidence of the brutal assault on Dotobaa Dikro Nana Gyasi Gyabaa, who had reportedly stated that there was no Paramount Chief in Nkoranza.

Furthermore, Nana Asamanhene highlighted other alarming incidents, including the unlawful arrest of Nana Adu Kofi, the Atikoanohene, for purportedly visiting the office of the Registrar of the Nkoranza Traditional Council.
He also cited the destoolment of Abirahemaa Nana Kokorama Nyarko, who allegedly failed to gather support from her fellow queen mothers for Kwaku Soro, and the removal of Nana Akwasi Kune, the head of the Baamu family, for denying him access to the Baamu. These developments raise concerns about the potential disruption of the current peace enjoyed by the people of Nkoranza.
In conclusion, Nana Ata-Fosu Owusu Ababio respectfully appeals to His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II to intervene and resolve the situation. He also requests that the security operatives, led by the MCE, remain impartial in handling matters related to the chieftaincy dispute, as there is currently no recognized Paramount Chief in Nkoranza.
Signed,
Nana Ata-Fosu Owusu Ababio
Asamanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Council
