The Head of Civil Service, Nana Agyekum-Dwamena, has called on Civil Servants to have a sense of mission while in active service.

This he said, would contribute to the achievement of set policies, projects and programmes of the Ghana Civil Service. According to him, this would largely improve service delivery and economic transformation.

Nana Agyekum-Dwamena was speaking at a Thanksgiving Service to mark the 2023 Civil Service Week Celebration and Awards Ceremony dubbed “Enhanced Service Delivery and Economic Transformation in Ghana: The Civil Service in Focus” held in Accra.

He entreated staff members to emulate hard work in their various working environment while in the spirit of thanksgiving.

In a brief sermon at the event, the Resident Pastor, CLOGSAG, Pastor Bayo told Civil Servants to consciously and constantly show gratitude to God for His care and love for humanity.

He implored members to upgrade from occasional thanksgiving and be deliberate in offering thanksgiving to God and make it a lifestyle.

According to him, Thanksgiving is registering ones appreciation to God, thanksgiving is also a Kingdom mystery that is multi-purpose. Thank God for yesterday, today and tomorrow, he said.

The Thanksgiving Service for both Christian and Muslim staff of the Civil Service was to give thanks to God for a successful year and to seek guidance for the years ahead.

The annual Civil Service Week Celebration and Awards Ceremony is one of the activities implemented by the Office of the Head of Civil Service (OHCS) with support from the Public Sector Reform for Results Projects (PSRRP).

The programme lined up to mark the 2023 event includes a Public Lecture (Monday, May 29, 2023) which would see both the Majority and Minority leaders of Parliament to improve the collaborative efforts with Parliament to achieve the economic transformation of the country.

Also, from Monday, May 29 to Thursday, June 1, 2023, there will be a series of activities, including Policy Fair/Exhibition, Tourism, Food Bazaar and Inter-Ministerial Men’s Cooking Competition and Health Screening exercises.

The week-long event would also see the Final matches of the inter-Ministerial Football Tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium. The event would be climaxed with the 2022 Civil Service Awards Ceremony on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
