Accra Hearts of Oak have been crowned champions of the 2023 President’s Cup after beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium, with President Akufo Addo in attendance.

The victory also gives them three points, that take them to fourth position in the league table.

Hearts in the early part of the first half threatened the away team to get an early lead but failed to get a goal.

Stephen Mukwala also had an opportunity to  put Kotoko ahead but his curled shot went wide off the goal post.

Both teams continued to create chances but the first half ended goalless.

The Phobians finally broke the deadlock on the 56th minute in the second half, as  Konadu Yiadom headed past Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Ibrahim Danlad who failed to punch away a free kick that was played into the 18-yard box.

The win means Hearts have now claimed the President’s Cup for the 6th time, and they take home a GH¢50,000 cash prize.
