Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has urged Ghanaians to remain united and refrain from politicising the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives on August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
Speaking on Friday, August 8, 2025, after leading a delegation from the judiciary to lay floral tributes at the Flagstaff House in honour of the victims, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized the need for national solidarity during this period of mourning.
The victims included two government ministers and other senior public servants who died in the line of duty.
“These gallant men died in the course of duty, so we have to forge ahead in national unity and not politicise their death,” he told journalists after the solemn ceremony.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie encouraged citizens to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the departed and to be inspired by their legacy.
“We should all have recourse to the legacy they left behind and serve our nation to the best of our abilities,” he added.
The judiciary’s tribute is part of a broader wave of national mourning following what has been described as one of Ghana’s most devastating public service tragedies in recent memory.
