The 2025 Women’s Dialogue, a high-profile event commemorating International Women’s Day, took place at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, drawing leaders, policymakers, and advocates from various sectors.
Under the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the dialogue centered on the theme, “Resetting the Agenda for Women: Accelerating Action on Women’s Rights, Equity, and Empowerment.”
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, joined a distinguished panel discussion alongside Nana Gyentsi Amoako X, Queen Boresah Fantevie, Peggy Ama Donkor, and Dr. Latifatu Mohammed. The panel engaged in thought-provoking discussions on advancing women’s leadership and governance.
During her address, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe emphasized two key aspects of women’s empowerment:
Enhancing Women’s Participation in Governance – She underscored the need to create opportunities for women in leadership and decision-making roles. Proposing initiatives such as reserved political seats, leadership training programs, and financial support, she highlighted the importance of fostering an environment where women can thrive in governance.
Supporting Women Leaders to Make a Lasting Impact – Hon. Gyan Cudjoe stressed the significance of mentorship, networking, and access to resources in empowering women leaders. She advocated for comprehensive training programs and financial support mechanisms to ensure that women in leadership positions can effect meaningful change.
The event saw the participation of notable dignitaries, including diplomats, ambassadors, members of parliament, entrepreneurs, and CEOs. Among the distinguished guests were the Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, Honourable Agnes Momo, the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Honourable Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, and business leader Kate Quartey-Papafio.
Beyond the discussions on women’s rights and empowerment, the event celebrated Ghana’s cultural heritage with vibrant displays of traditional music, dance, and attire, adding a festive touch to the occasion.
Expressing her appreciation, Hon. Gyan Cudjoe extended gratitude to Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and the event organizers for creating a platform that amplifies women’s voices. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing policies that promote women’s empowerment and leadership, emphasizing the need for collective action to build a more equitable future.
