Aminatu Zakaria, a former househelp who claims she was sentenced to 6 months in court, only to get to prison and find that her sentence had mysteriously changed to 36 months.
Mr. Ulysses Amoako, a father figure to Aminatu, told Crime Check that the young lady was accused of stealing some dollars from her employers in Adentan, where she worked as a househelp.
He said she admitted taking the money and kept the remainder in the house. However, her employers, a couple, claimed they could not find it. They however retrieved what was stolen by Aminatu.
Mr. Amoako also alleged that the husband had made sexual advances toward Aminatu, which she rejected. He claims the man then threatened to “teach her a lesson.”
Aminatu has now served 1 year of her sentence and is appealing for help to correct the court records and secure her release. Both the court clerk and the prosecutor, according to Mr. Amoako, told her “nothing can be done.”
