The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has received assorted food items from the Hudai Foundation for distribution to prison inmates across Ghana as part of efforts to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.

The donation was presented at the National Mosque in Accra. The items — including rice, tomato paste, spaghetti, sunflower oil and sugar — were handed over as a gesture of goodwill and charity.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, the minister expressed gratitude to the Hudai Foundation and the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana for the initiative, noting that the contribution would go a long way in improving the living conditions of inmates.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of prisoners despite their circumstances, adding that partnerships and support from benevolent organizations remain critical to improving conditions in the country’s correctional facilities.

The minister also assured the Turkish Ambassador of the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Turkey. He commended the Hudai Foundation for its annual donations and called on other organizations to support the Ghana Prisons Service in its efforts to enhance inmate welfare.

Hudai Country Coordinator, Mr. Remzi Şeker, explained that the donation forms part of the Foundation’s broader charity and goodwill initiatives.

“Ramadan is a month of blessings and sacrifices, and we believe it is our duty to support those in need. We will continue to do our best to provide assistance to the needy and vulnerable, including prison inmates,” he said.

The Hudai Foundation, a Turkish charitable organization, provides humanitarian assistance to vulnerable groups such as orphans, widows and prisoners. The Foundation has undertaken various philanthropic activities in Ghana, including the provision of food, clothing and medical supplies to disadvantaged communities.
