Former President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that he accepted the responsibility of leading the opposition National Democratic Congress again in the 2024 general elections in order to seize power from the ruling New Patriotic Party because he believes Ghana is heading in the wrong direction and needs his experience to come and rescue her.

According to him, posterity will not forgive our generation if NDC does not win the 2024 elections to come and correct the mess the NPP has committed and take Ghanaians out of the current hardships we find ourselves in; hence his rescue mission agenda dubbed ‘Building the Ghana We Want Together.

Speaking to NDC delegates at Techiman South Constituency, the Bono East Regional capital, on Friday, former President John Mahama called for unity in the party in order to recapture the lost parliamentary seat in 2024.

For his part, Hon. Unas Owusu affectionately called ‘Unasco’, Bono East Regional Chairman of the NDC pledged 100% votes for him in the upcoming Presidential primaries.

Meanwhile, the former President’s tour of the Bono East Region, which took him to Kintampo North and South, Nkoranza North and South, and Techiman North and South on Friday, continued on Saturday at the Sene East and West, Pru East and West, and Atebubu/Amantin Constituencies.
