Former coach of Ghana’s U-17 men’s national team, Laryea Kingston, has rendered an apology to Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghanaians following his resignation from his role.
The former Black Stars player announced his decision to step aside after the Starlets were defeated by Burkina Faso in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship last Saturday at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Subsequent to that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in a statement raised concerns about the behaviour of the 43-year-old.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Laryea has acknowledged he fully accepts responsibility for disappointing the team and Ghanaians.
“To the President and the Exco, I also want to unreservedly and sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding, inconvenience and embarrassment my decision to announce my resignation last Saturday caused.
“After careful consideration, I could have handled things better and this will be a guiding experience for me going forward,” he stated.
He added “We look forward to finishing the tournament in the strongest way by beating our rivals, Nigeria to win bronze. Thank you.”
The Black Starlets will fight for third place when they meet Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon at the University of Ghana Stadium.
