President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named Alhaji Ben Abdallah Banda as the new Chairman of the National Hajj Board.

Other members of the board include Habib Iddrisu Hajia Safia Mohammed, Chief Saddique Jimala III, Sheikh Amin Bonsu and Alhaji Inusah Amadau as members.

The rest are Osumanu Yunusah, Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed, Seidu Zakaria, Abdul Rahman Alhassan Gomda, Alhaji Musah Akambonga and Hajia Azara Haroun.

Also, the reconstituted HAJJ Board Secretariat include Alhaji Farouk Hamza as the Executive Secretary and Ibrahim Adjei, Ahmed Abu and Ahmed Tijani as members.

Although the reason for Sheik Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye’s dismissal, also known as Sheik I.C. Quaye, is not yet known, a well-placed source claims that the former Greater Accra Regional Minister was let go due to a fictitious letter in which he purportedly named signatories to the Hajj Accounts of the Pilgrims Affairs Office Ghana.

As the appointing authority to the Hajj Board, the President in a letter signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to President to Sheik I.C Quaye said he is unaware of appointing Hamza Tanko onto the Hajj Board thereby his name should be removed from the board immediately.

The letter described I.C. Quaye’s move as without any basis, adding that “Accordingly, you hereby directed to take immediate steps to remove Mr. Hamza Tanko name as a signatory to the account and in any other official duties of the Hajj Board”.

The new composition is as follows:
