Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, has urged party delegates to vote for him to lead them in the 2024 general elections, claiming that he is the best candidate to garner more votes in their strongholds.
According to him, if elected, he can assure the party of getting 2 million votes in the Ashanti Region for the NPP.
He gave this assurance when he was interacting with party delegates in Amasaman during his campaign tour.
Mr. Kyeremanten explained that if the NPP fails to amass 80 percent of the votes in the Ashanti Region, it will be difficult for the party to win power.
“The NPP usually gets more votes in the Ashanti Region. Therefore, the party needs a candidate who can help them get more votes so I am promising you that if you elect me to lead the party, I can guarantee you 2 million votes from Ashanti Region,” he said.
“If we don’t get 80 percent or 2 million in the Ashanti, it will be very difficult to win the elections.”
The former Trade and Industry Minister also added that it was necessary for the NPP to get a candidate who could match up with the New Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region, which is their stronghold.
“Volta Region is the stronghold of the NDC and our party needs a candidate who can match them to reduce their votes. I am the only political figure in the party, who can divide the votes in the Volta Region.”
The NPP Presidential Primaries is scheduled to take place in November.
