Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has denied being involved in the recording of the leaked video in which three of his colleagues are heard reportedly planning to remove him from office.
“I didn’t play any role in the recording of the leaked tape,” IGP stated
The Police Chief had been accused by the alleged conspirators—the three police officers heard in the leaked tape—of orchestrating and masterminding the secret recording of the conversation they had with Chief Daniel Bugri Naabu, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who served as the NPP’s Northern Regional Chairman and who has admitted to secretly recording the leaked tape.
Dr. Dampare, taking his turn at the bipartisan parliamentary committee probing the leaked tape, noted that contrary to allegations that he worked in concert with Chief Bugri Naabu to secretly record them, he played no role whatsoever in the secret recording.
According to the IGP, the claim that Bugri Naabu has a contract with the Ghana Police Service is untrue.
