I fully support Dr. Bryan Acheampong to construct Nkawkaw Sports Stadium – Kwahu West MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Kwahu West, Tamimu Halidu has expressed his satisfaction and keen support for the construction of the abandoned Nkawkaw Sports Stadium.

The MCE, who was confirmed on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, has applauded the move by the Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency, Dr. Bryan Acheampong for his commitment to development across the Kwahu Bloc.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Anopa Dawuro Show on Republic FM with Kwasi Amoah Nyamekye on Thursday , May 22, Mr. Tamimu indicated that he has, by himself visited the site and supervised the work done so far.

“We had information that the Nkawkaw Stadium is being developed but we did have the full details. I was very happy when I heard so I sent people to check on it because if such a project is being built then it’s good news. Per what Dr. Bryan Acheampong has done, I have decided to give him sponsorship. If he can, Nkawkaw Methodist Park, Church of Christ and others are there, we will give him the go ahead to support us. It’s good news unless someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing but for me, the MCE for Nkawkaw, I fully support him. When I heard it was Dr. Bryan Acheampong, I drove to the site and congratulated them”, he noted.

The construction of the stadium will cover some selected facilities including the inner perimeter, changing room and dressing room and spectators stand.

I sent the Municipal Planning and Engineering officers to visit the place. Per the contract, where I felt discomfort was that we needed an earlier information on who was doing it but per the report given to me by the officers, the construction will cover the Inner Perimeter, Changing room, dressing room and Spectators stand. If all these facilities were available, I’m much convinced that Okwahu United would have been promoted to the Ghana Premier League”,

There were speculations circulating among party folks and residents that the MCE had opposed the construction of the stadium by Dr. Bryan Acheampong due to the fact that NPP failed to construct the stadium during their – eight – year political office, hence the MP had no justification to turn around and claim to construct the facility.

Alluding to the speculations, the MCE admitted having received numerous calls, urging him to stop the Abetifi MP from constructing the stadium.

The MCE underscored the relevance of the politically – motivated calls, urged calm and explained to the opposers the importance and the need for the MP to support the construction of the stadium.

I received a lot of calls, asking me to stop him (Dr. Bryan) but I told them, for what? I was even expecting him to say he needs support from the DRIP machines; We have excavators, water tankers and others. But why should I ever think of stopping a developmental project just because of politics? It’s good news, and I repeat, it’s good news but like I said, we did not know earlier, who was undertaking such a move so that was the only challenge we had but since we’re now aware it’s Bryan, I fully support him.

Bryan constructing Nkawkaw Sports Stadium is a welcoming initiative, it’s a great idea and it’s great news for Nkawkaw and we’re ready to go with it. I wish he had the financial strength to construct the entire Stadium but like I said, it’s in the hands of a contractor and it’s the contractor who has given him (Bryan) that parts and the information is that Dr. Bryan Acheampong is doing these things to support Okwahu United. Nobody should fight, nobody should talk, it’s a good initiative and I’m ready to release our DRIP machines to go and assist Hon. Bryan Acheampong to work. I love it and Politically, it’s my time that the stadium is going on and for those who do not understand themselves, I Tamimu Halidu, I said it’s good news and we want it”,

Dr. Bryan Acheampong on May 6, 2025 visited the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium and told Republic FM Sports journalist, Dennis Owoahene Acheampong his intentions to begin the construction of the Stadium in two weeks.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong spotted in a shot with Head of Sports at Republic FM, Dennis Owoahene Acheampong.

A week later, construction equipment moved to the site, marking the beginning of the erection of the stadium.

Mr. Tamimu further indicated that the Abepotia Astro Turf will be supervised till its competition. He noted that the MP for Nkawkaw has traveled and upon his return, the necessary actions will be taken to ensure the smooth construction of the facility.
