Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has said he is the best candidate to beat flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament claims that because there is nothing bad to say about him, he has a better chance of being elected by Ghanaians.

Mr. Agyapong pointed out that he is in a stronger position because former President John Mahama and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia both have a history of mismanaging Ghana’s economy.

Asked whether he believes he will win against Mahama in the event that he is chosen to lead the NPP in the 2024 general elections, he said ” Including NPP and NDC supporters as well all Ghanaians, no one can say anything bad about me apart from saying I am impatient. But even if I am impatient and can create jobs for you, what is your problem,” he asked.

“If you bring Mahama and I, he has a baggage in terms of the economy but I do not have any baggage. For me, I have not been tried so I am using my own track record in terms of business which I will use to run the economy. So I have a better chance of beating Mahama but for Bawumia and Mahama, they all have track records which they will use against each other,” he told Kessben TV.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong will have to first win the NPP’s delegates congress, which is scheduled to take place in November 4.

He will be contesting with Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, former Agriculture Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former Mampong MP, Addai Nimo for the flagbearer slot.
