Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah has revealed that he made a promise to Don Bortey to help him when he succeeds in life due to how he helped him in the past.

In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Gyan said Don Bortey is one of the few people who has really helped him, recalling how he was freely gifted money during their playing days for Ghana’s U-23 team, Black Meteors.

“Don Bortey is one of the guys who has helped me. He is a free-spirited guy. We were in Black Meteors camp when he came to me with a bag full of money and asked me to take any amount I wanted to my surprise.

“I took out one bundle  and I told him that when I also succeed, I will also help him for his good deeds.

“He is someone who can give you a hundred million even if that is his last money on him,” he said emotionally.

The former Black Stars striker added that Don Bortey should have gone far with his football career but it is unfortune that it did not happen.

“He was supposed to be up there but it is life. I have a relationship with him and once in while, I do reach out to him for us to talk.”
