The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has issued a bold challenge ahead of the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2, 2025.

He pledged to resign from Parliament if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) fails to reclaim the seat.

Speaking to GHOne TV, Mr. Baafi criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of abandoning their 2024 campaign promises.

Expressing confidence in his party’s prospects, he declared: “If the NPP loses this Akwatia by-election, I will resign as MP. Mark my words!”

The by-election follows the sudden death of Ernest Kumi, the constituency’s former representative. The contest is expected to be fiercely competitive, with the NPP’s Solomon Kwame Asumadu facing off against the NDC’s Bernard Bediako.
