Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong has met with party faithfuls of the new Patriotic Party in the round up to the Party’s 2026 Presidential Primaries.

At a gathering in Nkwatia-Kwahu on Tuesday, August 19, the Former Agric Minister, who’s also a leading Presidential Candidate aspirant in a meeting with the delegates reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the party’s grassroots culture, a pivotal structure he describes as the backbone of the NPP ‘religion’.

Dr. Acheampong, in his remarks commended the party members for their continuing support and urged them to propagates his vision for the party and the country.  He indicated his unwavering commitment to uplift the image and progress of grassroots member and promised to stand by them at all times.

He said, he’s articulated a formula for the 2028 general elections, a direction he said, will proclaim victory from the NDC.

“I brought you here today, of course, a lot of people have heard my name but I’m urging you to take a bold step and push my vision. Once you’re here, you’re here to support me and I want to ask all of you to support me and bring the NPP back to Power.

Let’s eschew the agenda settings and forge ahead as one people. NDC gets scared when they hear my name. They will bring a new candidate but we will present our new formula for the 2028 elections and I tell you, I win the NPP Primaries and beat an NDC Presidential candidate. I’m also giving you an assurance as my campaign team that I will stand with you one on one“, he told the delegates

Dr. Acheampong took on Bawumia for the party’s woeful defeat in the 2024 general elections. According to him, Bawumia could have relied on the party grassroots but rather, abandoned the base and had no idea how the party was structured. Mr. Acheampong settled on President Kufour and Akufo Addo’s strategy for having relied on the grassroots to win political power for the party in 2000 and 2016 general elections.

“I told Dr. Bawumia this same thing that he did not understand the party structures. When Adu Boahen got hold of the party, he picked Peter Ala-Adjetey, Sarfo Adu, Djan Selby and others  and they remained at the top but Kufour came in, stopped down, picked the party chairmen and destooled Adu Boahen regime. When Kufour got it, he stayed up there with Alan, Kwadwo Pianim and the likes, and Akufo Addo came in, stepped down and moved the base and called for expansion of the base and collapsed the Kufour regime and so when Akufo Addo picked him (Bawumia) as a running mate in 2008, he could have come to the base and move up it but he remained there and assumed the journey would be rossy for him after Akufo Addo had left. President Akufo Addo knows all constituency executives but Bawumia’s case was different”, he said.

Dr. Bryan Acheampong is one of the officially-known faces to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s 2026 Presidential Primaries slated for January 31st next year.

He comes with experience, focus on youth, Job creation, Agric and high-standard governance to articulate the potential of the ordinary Ghanaian.
