Aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kyeremanten, has expressed outrage at the behaviour of some members of the party, who attacked his campaign coordinator for the North-East Region during last Saturday’s Super Delegates Conference.
He said this when he visited his campaign coordinator, Ali Zakaria, at the eye hospital where he was receiving treatment on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Kyeremanten described the incident as indecent behaviour, and called on the party not to tolerate such acts.
“What happened to my colleague on Saturday, was an act of total indiscipline and indecent behaviour. How do we as a decent party, going into an election, particularly at the level of super delegates superintend such behaviour? he asked.
“We all joined the NPP because of our commitment to the values of the party but what is happening clearly shows that this is not what we bargained for by joining the party. I’m not going to tolerate this kind of behaviour. It doesn’t make sense,” he said.
He went on to question how the party will be able to conduct elections free and fair elections in November when they hold the parliamentary and presidential elections.
“If we cannot conduct ourselves as a family, trying to select a leader in a peaceful and organized manner, how do we intend to be able to do the same kind of process when we have over 200,000 people gathered? So, frankly I am very disturbed about what has happened. The party must not put a shine on this kind of incident,” he added.
