Kumasi Asante Kotoko have named goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim as the club’s new captain, with Cameroonian Georges Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey as vice captains, the club announced on Friday.
The 20-year-old will replace Richard Boadu, after the midfielder joined Libyan club, Al Ahly.
Danalad has been at the club since 2016 and is considered an important player for team, having temporarily taken the captain’s armband last season
Meanwhile, Cameroonian Goerges Mfuegue and Richmond Lamptey, have also been appointed as vice captains by new coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
“It’s a huge honour for me to be named the new club captain. I will say it’s a blessing, and I give thanks to the Almighty Allah, to our noble technical staff and head coach, Prosper Ogum, and to our great supporters.
“I am very grateful for this, and I promise to serve wholeheartedly as I have always done since I joined [this club],” Danlad told club website.
The 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League begins today, September 15, 2023, with Kotoko expected to welcome Accra Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday for their first game.
