Business magnate Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers & Planners Ltd and Dzata Cement Ltd, has donated a brand-new 35-seater bus to his alma mater, Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO).
The donation, presented on Mr. Mahama’s behalf by his Special Aide, Rafik Mahama, took place during a student durbar at the school’s premises. The event was attended by members of the Old Tamascan Association and the school community.
In his remarks, Rafik Mahama conveyed Mr. Ibrahim Mahama’s commitment to supporting education and uplifting the less privileged.
“Mr. Mahama sent me from Accra to deliver this bus to the NSMQ team and the student population. He regrets not being here personally due to pressing engagements but hopes this gesture alleviates transportation challenges and inspires students to strive for greatness,” he stated.
The Headmaster of TAMASCO, receiving the bus, expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Mahama for his unwavering support. “This is a remarkable gesture that will ease our transportation difficulties, particularly for the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) team. We deeply appreciate his generosity,” he said.
The Headmaster also highlighted Mr. Mahama’s ongoing contributions to the school, including the construction of a 1,200-bed ultra-modern dormitory. Originally designed as a 700-bed facility, the project was upgraded to accommodate 1,200 students based on advice from engineers. The project, which is fully funded by Mr. Mahama, is 90% complete and expected to significantly reduce accommodation challenges when finished.
“Work on the dormitory resumed last September, and the progress has been impressive. Once completed, it will be a game-changer for the school,” the Headmaster added.
Mr. Mahama’s contributions underscore his dedication to improving educational infrastructure and creating opportunities for the next generation.
The donation of the bus and the dormitory project reflect his commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped his formative years.
