Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has promised to improve the livelihoods of the Ashanti region if elected president in the 2024 general elections stating that the region is of critical economic importance to Ghana.
According to Mr. Kyerematen, the Ashanti region is the meeting point of about 10 regions in the country and the hub of trade to some neighbouring countries hence there is the need for the region to be given much attention if leaders want to solve the country’s economic problems.
“As a Kumasi boy myself and a descendant of Yaa Asantewaa, the region and its people also hold a special place in my heart. My father, the late Dr. A.A.Y. Kyerematen was committed to protecting Asante culture through the National Cultural center which he founded. Over the years, too many important projects in the Ashanti region have been abandoned or received little support”, he said
He also mentioned that, despite efforts made by previous governments to develop the region, various projects such as the Kumawu Hospital, Konongo Hospital, and some market centres have been left uncompleted.
“It saddens me that some of these projects including market centres and various roads have been left unattended to. If the people of the Ashanti region will throw their weight behind me in the upcoming elections, I will focus on developing the region”, Alan Kyerematen added.
He therefore stressed that “as President of Ghana I will work hard to ensure that the economy, livelihoods and stature of the Ashanti region reaches its full potential because if the Ashanti region progresses Ghana will progress”,
