The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in any form of violence as Ghana approaches the December 7 elections.

He emphasized that anyone found participating in violent acts will face the full extent of the law.

Speaking at the commissioning of a newly constructed police station in Akyem-Manso, Eastern Region, on Saturday, November 16, Dr. Dampare revealed that the police have put measures in place to identify early warning signs of unrest and respond effectively.

“Don’t be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my people will not spare you. Don’t forget that the people who will lure you to create confusion will switch off their phones when you are arrested; they will simply abandon you,” he cautioned.

The IGP called on all citizens to exercise their voting rights peacefully without infringing on the rights of others. He reassured the public of the police service’s commitment to ensuring a free and peaceful election period.

Dr. Dampare’s comments come as part of the police’s broader efforts to maintain security and order as the election date approaches.
