The Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, has vehemently denied accusations that he is the worst IGP to have ever served as head of the Ghana Police Service.
Two senior police officers, who took their turns to appear before the 7-member ad hoc committee tasked with investigating the issue, all made claims about the IGP, describing him as the worst IGP ever.
However, Mr. Damapare, who made his first appearance before the committee on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, said he is not the one to judge whether he is the worst or not, but rather his record will speak for itself.
“The records are there for everybody to see. The beauty of mankind is that everybody has an opinion, and he can express it in any form of shape, but that does not change the fact,” he stressed.
Mr. Dampare went ahead to highlight the many interventions that he and his administration have put in place to give a facelift to the police service and denied that his administration is the worst.
“If anybody comes to say that I am the worst IGP, it’s unfounded, it’s unfortunate, and I think the best the person could have done if he had nothing to say, is probably to have kept quiet to allow the good people of this country to make a determination on us,” he added.
