The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has vowed to crack down on the growing wave of violent attacks targeting mobile money vendors across the country.
Speaking at the Regional Police Commanders’ Conference at the Police Headquarters in Osu, COP Yohuno condemned the surge in criminal activities that have put innocent citizens — merely trying to earn an honest living — at grave risk.
“These attacks have, in some cases, tragically resulted in the loss of life,” COP Yohuno lamented.
“My administration takes public concerns seriously, and we will do everything necessary to protect citizens from such threats.”
The IGP stressed the urgent need for innovative crime-fighting strategies to outsmart the increasingly sophisticated tactics used by criminals.
“Criminals are constantly finding ways to stay ahead of law enforcement, but we must be proactive in outmanoeuvring them,” he declared.
His remarks come amid rising fears among mobile vendors, who have become prime targets for armed robbers.
COP Yohuno reassured the public that the Ghana Police Service is fully committed to addressing these security concerns and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
As part of the broader security strategy, regional police commanders have been tasked with implementing decisive measures to curb these attacks and bring perpetrators to justice.
