Leader and founder of Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has revealed that he is not only seeking to win power and lead the country but fighting to bring economic prosperity.
“As a politician, it is true that I am fighting for power but it is equally true that I am fighting for a noble cause which is to bring economic prosperity to our nation”, these were the words of Alan Kyerematen during the National Economic Summit in Accra.
The Summit, under the theme: “Building Non-Partisan Consensus for a National Economic Development Plan”, according to Mr. Kyerematen came about as a result of a number of key considerations such as the need to mobilize talents towards development of the country, compelling desire by majority of Ghanaians to move Ghana beyond party manifestos, concerns about the current economic hardship in the country among others.
Mr. Kyerematen also noted that for the past months, these key considerations have led to the bringing together of some of the country’s brightest minds from different fields of specialization to formulate a plan that will move Ghana from poverty to prosperity.
“What Ghanaians are looking for now are solutions to the problems and not a lecture to debate the causes of these problems. It is in this regard that this summit is concentrated on economy”, Alan Kyerematen stressed.
The former trade minister reiterated the need for Ghanaians to move from partisan politics and brace the change he wants to champion through his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).
The summit constituted a panel discussion on key thematic areas in the macroeconomics environment focusing on inflation, low competitive interest rate, stable currency and expenditure management and control, increasing financing for SMEs, revenue mobilization and debt sustainability management.
On September 25, 2023, Alan Kyerematen resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and formed his Movement for Change Agenda and announced his intention to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections.
