New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed deep gratitude to his campaign team, party leadership, and delegates nationwide following provisional results of the party’s presidential primary that place him in a commanding lead.

With over 50 percent of votes counted, early results from constituencies across the country show Dr. Bawumia ahead of his contenders, positioning him strongly as counting continues.

Speaking at his campaign office in Accra on Saturday, January 31, as results trickled in, the former Vice President described the contest as a demanding nationwide campaign and credited his progress to collective effort and unity.

“Let me thank all of you. We’ve gone through a journey. It’s been a fierce battle that we’ve waged across the country, across all the regions, and we couldn’t have gotten here without the support of the team around me,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia paid glowing tribute to his campaign leadership, singling out National Campaign Coordinator Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Campaign Manager Fred Opare Ansah, and Members of Parliament who rallied behind his bid.

He also commended party executives, the Electoral Commission, security agencies, and the media for ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible election process.

In a reflective moment, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the foundational work of past party stalwarts, including Prof. Adu Boahen, former President J.A. Kufuor, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, noting that their sacrifices paved the way for the party’s growth.

“It is really humbling that I have been elected to continue the work they started,” he added, while also recognising the contributions of former Members of Parliament.

As collation continues nationwide, provisional figures from key NPP strongholds indicate Dr. Bawumia remains firmly in the lead, reinforcing his status as the frontrunner in the highly contested primary.
