Ghana Immigration Service Officer, AICO1 Ahmed Abdul Samad, has officially been handed over to the Upper East Regional Police Command for investigations into his alleged involvement in the smuggling of 2,600 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition destined for Paga.
The incident dates back to 26 December 2025, when police personnel stationed at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier in the Ashanti Region intercepted the ammunition aboard a Paga bound OA bus. The consignment also included two bulletproof plates, a black helmet, and tactical boots.
Following rigorous investigations, AICO1 Ahmed Abdul Samad, a native of Nalerigu and an officer stationed at the Ghana Immigration Service Paga Sector Command, was identified as a key suspect in the case. He was subsequently arrested by the Ghana Immigration Service and officially handed over to the Ghana Police Service on 2 January 2026 for further investigations.
