A tragic accident has claimed the life of an importer at the Golden Jubilee Terminal of the Tema Harbour after he was crashed by a container-handling machine during an offloading operation.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when a reach stacker was reversing as part of routine port activities. The victim, who was reportedly standing behind the machine, was struck and trapped beneath its massive tires.
Those at the scene described the event as horrifying, as workers and onlookers rushed to rescue the man but were unable to save him due to the severity of his injuries.
Port authorities and emergency responders later arrived to cordon off the area and recover the body.
