The Tufuhene for the Akuapem Adontenhene, Nana Kwaku Aniapam II, is appealing to the government to include traditional leaders in governance.
Speaking at the launch of his fun club (Nana Kwaku Aniapam II fun club) at Nsawam, he said the traditional leaders were more powerful and closer to their people, so certain things were put in place in order to protect the entire community.
According to him, the traditional leaders were in charge of the community concerning sanitation, water bodies, and the forest, and since they have become toothless in the government’s decision-making, the environment has lost its virtue.
He urged the government to instill power and involve chiefs in decision-making because they have major influence on their community members, and that can minimise certain unlawful practices.
