Mr. Samuel Boateng, a socio-political analyst and researcher, has predicted a significant number of “skirt and blouse” votes in the upcoming 2024 general elections, particularly in the parliamentary races.

Speaking on Gye Nyame FM, Boateng discussed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) losing several key members.

According to him, these members, including constituency chairpersons and women’s wing leaders, felt they were treated unfairly during the constituency parliamentary primaries and have decided to run as independent parliamentary candidates in the 2024 elections.

Boateng emphasized that these independent candidates have amassed resources and are well aware of the NPP’s weaknesses, posing a significant challenge to the party.

He suggested that having at least 10 independent members of parliament would compel both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be more effective in their duties.

He also criticized current NPP parliamentary members for misusing common funds and relying on a few government projects for their campaign efforts.

Boateng concluded that such strategies would not be effective, as Ghanaians are now more aware and critical of their leaders’ performance.
