The Ministry of the Interior has urged the public to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement following heavy rains and flooding that affected several parts of the country on Monday morning.
In a public safety advisory, the Ministry said persons who are safely at home should stay indoors, while those at their workplaces or other secure locations should remain there until conditions improve.
Motorists and pedestrians were also cautioned against driving or walking through flooded roads, bridges and waterways, warning that rising floodwaters pose serious risks to life and property.
The Ministry disclosed that the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Armed Forces, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other emergency responders have been deployed to monitor the situation, conduct rescue operations and manage traffic.
Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to move to higher ground where safe and report emergencies through the national emergency lines. The Ministry assured the public that government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
