The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has paid a visit to Sgt. Akocha Samuel, a police officer receiving treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra after sustaining gunshot wounds during a robbery operation in the La area.
Sgt. Akocha was shot in the chest and leg while responding to a robbery incident alongside his team. Despite the severity of his injuries, the officers on duty managed to apprehend two of the armed suspects, while others fled the scene.
A police investigation is currently underway to track down the remaining assailants.
Hon. Muntaka, during his hospital visit, praised Sgt. Akocha for his courage and selfless dedication to duty. He expressed gratitude for the officer’s commitment to public safety and wished him a swift and full recovery.
He further urged the medical personnel attending to the injured officer to provide the highest level of care to support his healing process.
The visit, according to the Minister, was not only to show solidarity but also to highlight government’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by police officers in protecting lives and property.
