The Ministry for the Interior has reminded the general public that Friday, April 3, 2026, marks the beginning of the Easter festivities and will be observed nationwide as a statutory public holiday.
In a notice posted on its official website n Monday, March 30, the Ministry stated that the day should be recognised and observed as such across all regions, in accordance with the national law governing public holidays.
“The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 3rd April 2026, and Monday, 6th April, mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively, which are Statutory Public Holidays and should be observed as such throughout the country”, the statement said.
The notice was signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP).
The Easter festivities commemorates Ghana’s historic observation of the Christian dominance and the celebration of the awakening of Jesus Christ.
The occasion marks a key milestone in the nation’s history, blended with diversified cultural and traditional display of Ghana’s tourism industry.
Citizens, institutions and businesses are therefore expected to observe the holiday in line with established regulations governing statutory public holidays in the country.
