The Chairman of the oppositional National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and his campaign team have joined Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to observe this year’s International Day for Disability.
Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo and his team used the occasion to wish and affirm his party’s commitment and support for PWDs that “we shall stand with you always.”
Addressing them, he reaffirmed the popular saying that disability they say is not an inability but it is just a state of mind,
“As the world over celebrates the International Day of People Living with Disabilities, we say Ayekoo and pledge our support towards the good course of ensuring that their rights are protected.”
He said the creation of the NDC’s National Disability Desk in June 2020 is a testament that Chairman Ofosu-Ampofo and the NDC shall always stay true to the disability community in Ghana and with specific emphasis on the disability community within the NDC.
He revealed that NDC is the only political party in Ghana with a National Disability Desk, adding that this goes to emphasize our love for PWDs and respect for minority interests.
He said, according to the 2020 Population and Housing Census report, there are 12.5% of Ghanaians identified as Persons Living with Disabilities and the NDC party will ensure that we develop programmes and solutions for the welfare of PWDs.
On this special day, “we salute all persons living with disabilities and say Ayekooo!”
