The Chamber of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) has asked its members to refrain from notifying the System Operator of the availability of power or cut electricity supply to the national grid from July 1, 2023, to July 8, 2023.
This action is to emphasize their demands for the government to pay 30% of the debt of about $2 billion.
In an email from the Chamber to its six members that was seen by Joy Business, the chamber preferred each IPP to suggest nothing (zero nominations) and not report an availability to the System Operator, starting July 1, 2023, as a follow-up to their planned industrial action to push home their demand.
The Chamber of IPPs further ordered its members to cut off power delivery as of July 1, 2023.
The letter thanked the Chamber of IPPs members for their unwavering support and stated that it was resolved to achieve its goals at whatever costs.
