The Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Roey Gilad, has announced his government’s commitment to investing in Ghana’s solar energy systems to enhance the country’s electricity supply.
This initiative aims to provide a more reliable and consistent electricity supply while promoting sustainability, energy independence, and economic growth.
Ambassador Gilad explained that the project would also reduce Ghana’s reliance on fossil fuels, enhancing energy security and mitigating the impact of price volatility.
“Israel has demonstrated significant economic progress, particularly in developing industries and advancing technology.
Given the abundant sunlight in Ghana, Israel possesses cutting-edge technology in solar energy that could support the country’s development in this field,” Amb. Gilad stated.
Expanding Agricultural Collaboration
Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharren Haskel, highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening Ghana-Israel partnerships in agriculture and food security.
Following discussions with President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, she emphasized Israel’s expertise in agricultural technology.
“Israel has pioneered advanced agricultural technologies that can greatly benefit our collaboration in this area.
Moreover, our partnership extends beyond technology to cultural issues, such as early childhood education and the empowerment of women.
We have implemented various programs, and there are numerous fields where we can collaborate.
I look forward to discussing these opportunities further,” she noted.
Israel: A Safe Travel Destination
In the wake of the recent terrorist attack by Hamas in southern Israel, Deputy Minister Haskel addressed safety concerns about travel to Israel.
She assured the public that Israel is safe for visitors, pointing out that many nations have recently lowered their travel warnings.
“We are actively working on expanding all travel routes in and out of the country,” she said, emphasizing that defensive measures, such as nearly every home being equipped with a shelter, ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike.
She also highlighted Israel’s advanced technology, which enables the country to intercept most missile and drone threats, making it one of the safest destinations despite regional conflicts.
Rebuilding and Future Plans
Reflecting on the aftermath of the events of October 7, Haskel praised the resilience of Israeli citizens and businesses in rebuilding human resources and infrastructure.
“Throughout our history, we have faced difficult times, yet many companies are investing in Israel and looking to expand,” she stated, adding that Israel’s dedication and productivity remain strong even during conflicts.
Looking ahead, she outlined plans for economic recovery and increased collaboration with international partners.
“Together, we can achieve great things,” she concluded.
This renewed commitment to energy, agriculture, and safety signals a deeper partnership between Ghana and Israel, fostering economic growth and innovation for both nations.
