The meeting, according to a post by Dr. Bawumia on social media, afforded him the opportunity to discuss many national and global issues with Pope Francis and to strengthen Ghana’s longstanding relationship with the Vatican State and the Pope.

After an encounter with the Pope, Ghana’s Vice President also met with the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.

According to the Holy See Press Office, aspects of the nation’s political and socioeconomic circumstances were discussed during Dr. Bawumia’s meeting with Richard Gallagher, notably cooperation in the areas of healthcare and education.

The topic of discussion also included ways to reduce insecurity and security issues in the West African subregion.

He is expected to return to Ghana on Thursday, April 25th.
