Head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Evans Adotey, has expressed huge satisfaction after his side was crowned champions of the 2022–2023 betPawa Ghana Premier League.
The Mauve and Yellows defeated Tamale City 3-0 on the final day at Akoon Park in Tarkwa to help them secure their first-ever Premier League title in the history of the club.
Medeama appointed Coach Evans Adotey in March this year, to replace assistant coach Umar Rabi, who took over from David Duncan and has thus spent only three months with the club.
Speaking after the game, he dedicated his success to God and added that his return to the club was to lead them to win the title.
“I was brought here on a mission halfway in the season, and the mission was to make sure Medeama win the title.
Lo and behold, my mission is fulfilled that is why you see me very excited,” he said.
However, Adotey appreciated the efforts made by both past coaches, David Duncan and Umar Rabi, and stated that they should also be commended for their efforts.
“Nobody should blame David Duncan, nobody should blame Umar. They did a yeoman’s job. They started, and I came in halfway, so it doesn’t mean I just came and won the cup. They gathered some points, and then I also continued until this final day. So congratulations are not meant for me alone. It is a collective congratulation, it is not me alone.” He added
