James Gyakye Quayson has been officially sworn in as Member of Parliament for the Assin North constituency on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, after winning the Assin North by-election.
The MP who was welcomed by the majority caucus in parliament took his mandatory oath as a newly elected member of the House.
Also at the colourful swearing-in ceremony was the former president John Dramani Mahama, some NDC executives and party faithfuls.
Mr. Quayson’s re-swearing in ceremony comes after the Supreme Court nullified the 2020 parliamentary results.
The Assin North MP successfully reclaimed his seat in the by-election with some 17,245 votes representing 57.56%
With chiefs and other sympathizers showing their support for Mr. Quayson, it was observed that some NPP MPs were not present for reasons we are not preview to.
The ceremony however went on successfully and James Gyakye Quayson assumes his role as the elected representative for the people of Assin North and ready to serve.
The Speaker subsequently congratulated the MP and on behalf of Parliament welcomed him.
Meanwhile, the MP is expected to be in court to begin his trial.
