Following threats made by the youth of Kukuo in Tamale to demolish an ongoing wall project supported by the Old Students Association, a joint police-military team has been dispatched to Ghana Senior High School to maintain law and order.

The residents of the community have been at odds, almost getting into a fight with the school administration, with the justification that they fear losing access to the community’s sole water source if the wall is built.

According to reports, the community has resisted the association’s efforts to build a wall around the school for the past 13 years with ferocious opposition. Which has recently resulted in an attack on a security task group, leading to the detention of six earlier this week.

Authorities have sworn to punish harshly anyone whose behaviour interferes with academic activity or the ongoing project.
