The Jomoro Municipal Assembly has begun demolishing several buildings along the La Cote d’Ivoire–Lagos ECOWAS Highway in Elubo in the Western Region to make way for the government’s proposed 24-Hour Economy Market project.
According to the Assembly, the affected structures were erected without the required building permits and were situated within the project’s designated area.
Officials explained that the demolition exercise forms part of efforts to clear the site for the commencement of the market project, which is expected to boost trade, create jobs, and support economic activities under the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
The Assembly stated that the exercise was carried out in accordance with planning regulations, stressing that unauthorized structures cannot be allowed to obstruct a major public infrastructure project.
