President John Dramani Mahama has officially appointed Jones Borteye Applerh as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.
The appointment, effective January 21, 2025, was made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution.
The announcement was conveyed through a formal letter from the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, Ph.D., which outlined that the decision was made pending the constitutionally required advice of the governing board and in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
In the letter, the President extended his congratulations to Mr. Applerh and urged him to accept the appointment within 14 days of receipt. The new acting CEO is expected to steer the affairs of GIHOC Distilleries, a key player in Ghana’s industrial landscape, during this transitional period.
The letter also copied key stakeholders, including the Vice President, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Board Chairman of GIHOC Distilleries, and the Chairperson of the Public Services Commission.
Mr. Applerh’s appointment is anticipated to bring renewed energy and leadership to GIHOC Distilleries
