Judicial Service honours Nana Owiredu Wadie I for promoting legal service advancement in Ghana

The Judicial Service of Ghana, has honoured Nana Owiredu I, development chief for Nkwatia-Kwahu, for his outstanding leadership and dedicated efforts toward the promotion of community-based development, legal service advancement and preservation of civic-support for nation-building.       The honour, in the form of a citation, was presented to Nana Owiredu I on Friday, November 7, at the newly built Nkwatia-Kwahu Circuit Court, when a delegation from the Judicial Service, comprising of officials from the Eastern Regional Legal Service Directorate and traditional leaders called on him to commend him for taking practical steps to uphold and advance indigenous development in Ghana.

Chief Justice’s representative, Cyracus Bapuuroh said the honour reflects the Judicial Service’s commitment to working closely with other well-meaning Ghanaians to improve living standards within Kwahu and the entire country. The service expressed its gratitude for Nana Owiredu Wadie’s visible contributions towards development, revival and civic support to Government.

Reading the citation on behalf of the Chief Justice, Cyracus Bapuuroh, Deputy Secretary for the Judicial Service of Ghana, commended Nana’s “visionary commitment to reviving indigenous identity.”

The citation particularly acknowledged his directive display of physical infrastructural development not only Kwahu but across the country, most importantly, the construction of an ultra modern-fully-fledged court for Nkwatia-Kwahu, an initiative described as a significant gesture of pride and service to the Judicial Service.

It further commended the Nana Owiredu Wadie for revitalising the use of his influence in public life and education, enhancing the country’s aesthetics, and embedding a sense of patriotism and preservation within civic policy.

“The chief Justice, the Judicial Service of Ghana and the Judicial Council presents this plaque of appreciation to Nana Owiredu Wadie I. This plaque is a modest token of our deep gratitude for Nana’s remarkable vision and his selfless contribution to the advancement of Justice in this community. It symbolizes our recognition of his leadership, generosity and  endearing commitment towards the course of Justice. Nana through this noble act, you’ve strengthened the administration of Justice and left a legacy that will inspire generations of leaders and citizens alike”, Bapuuroh stated.

The inscription on the plaque reads “Nana Owiredu Wadie I, Nkosuohene of Nkwatia-Kwahu in recognition of your generous act of building a court house in Nkwatia-Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana to advance the course of Justice delivery in the community, dated this Friday, November 7, 2025. On behalf of the Judicial Service of Ghana, I have the honour to present this plague to you, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, in sincere appreciation of your outstanding service and exceptional dedication to the development of the Judiciary”,

Paramount Chief for New Juaben, Nana Kwaku Boateng in his address, commended Nana Owiredu Wadie I, who happens to be his school mate from Madonna International School in Koforidua. Nana Kwaku Boateng by his authority, named Nana Owiredu Wadie I as Sompahene of New Juaben Traditional Area.

“Nana Owiredu Wadie has done a lot for all of us. He has supported New Juaben and with permission from Kwahu Chiefs, I hereby name Nana Owiredu Wadie as Sompahene of New Juaben“,

Nkwatia-Kwahu Hene, Nana Boamah Ayirepe III, who spoke on behalf of Kwahuhene expressed Kwahuman’s gratitude to Nana Owiredu Wadie for undertaken such a civic – service support to nation-building. He said, he has never regretted naming Nana Owiredu Wadie as Development chief for Nkwatia-Kwahu.

In Nkwatia-Kwahu, Nana Owiredu I has constructed a mini police station quarters, a divisional headquarters building and a new pick up for the police division. He has renovated schools, construction of boreholes and Astro turf at Roman school in Nkwatia-Kwahu.
He used the opportunity and urged all persons to contribute to the development of Kwahu and Ghana.
During his speech, Nana Boamah Ayirepe called on the Chief Justice to uplift the newly built court to a High Court, emphasising it potential and capacity to be converted into a High Court edifice.

“This is my appeal. We have circuit court in Mpraeso, Abetifi and I’m appealing to the Chief Justice to convert this edifice into a High Court. This is a High Court building and I’m calling on the Chief Justice to consider our plea“, Nana Boamah Ayirepe added.

Nana Owiredu Wadie single handedly built the new ultra modern Nkwatia-Kwahu Circuit Court which was commissioned in December 16, 2022.
