Jurors in Accra are set to resume their duties after a four-month strike over delays in the payment of their allowances.
According to GBC News, the Judicial Service has now paid the jurors their ten-month allowance, clearing the way for jury trials to resume at the High Court.
The strike, which began in May, had halted jury trials, including serious cases such as murder. Among the cases affected were the trial of the alleged killer of former MP Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu and the trial of two teenagers accused of murdering a ten-year-old boy in Kasoa for alleged ritual purposes.
The High Court had scheduled June 24 for the summation and delivery of the verdict in the Kasoa ritual case, but the proceedings were postponed due to the absence of jurors, causing disappointment for the family of the deceased boy.
