The KABAKA Foundation on Friday, October 28, 2022, handed over a newly constructed office complex to the Nkwatia Divisional Police
Giving the handing over notes, Nana Boamah Ayirepey, Chief of Nkwatia-Kwahu said that it was a pleasant and needed call to put up the edifice in support of the creation of the Nkwatia Divisional Police Command.
“We appreciate your presence here. This is the time we decided to hand over the building and the vehicle to the Ghana Police Service. What we’re seeing today has been the biggest support of many Kwahu – Nkwatia patrons. We appreciate anyone who helped us to put up this building”, the chief said.
Nkosuohene of Nkwatia – Kwahu, Nana Owiredu Wadie I on his part added that it’s their responsibility to help and support the government in its quest to provide effective policing to the good people of Ghana. He further called on well-meaning Ghanaians to support the services of the Police to provide maximum protection to the public.
“Today, I brought this vehicle to support the Ghana Police Service in its operations as the new Kwahu – Nkwatia Divisional Police Command has been created. Let’s all support the Police so they can help us in return. We’re one people, let’s live in peace and harmony”, he stated.
The Eastern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr Addison Fosu- Ackaah accepted the keys to the Office complex on behalf of the IGP and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Nkwatia and Nana Owiredu Wadie for their efforts to assist the police in the creation of Divisional Police Command operations.
He congratulated Chief Supt. Marian Osei-Adu and introduced her to the people of Nkwatia as she becomes the first Divisional Commander of the newly created Nkwatia division.
“I’m very delighted that I’m being invited as the Regional commander for Eastern Region to witness the handing over of this building to the Ghana Police Service. Former IGP Mr Oppong Boanuh some 2 years ago uplifted the Nkwatia police to a district level. Mr Akufo Dampare before his assumption in office approved the request and called me 3 days ago to come and take in my custody the handing over of the Divisional Command office and the vehicle so I’m here to witness the event and report to the IGP”.
“The high importance of Policing cannot be overlooked. The rate of crime committed in the Kwahu enclave by nomadic herdsmen is a matter we have to look at. Rapes, armed robbery and possible violent clashes between Fulani herdsmen and crop farmers. I wish to state emphatically that these cattle rearers belong to the cattle ranches provided by the present government in Afram Plains, that’s where they need to be. I trust that the commissioning of this Divisional command here will go a long way towards effective police, fighting this crime. I also pray that the various district police command will exhibit a high level of professionalism particularly in keeping safe informant details so that such information does not get into the public domain. I wish to acknowledge the efforts of the Nkwatia Development Town Association which has done a yeoman’s job. I commend Mr Robert Dwamena, Nana Owiredu Wadie and all their colleagues for supporting this initiative”.
The Chief and patrons during their engagement with Mr Boanuh at that time requested a Divisional Command. Upon the assumption of the current IGP Dr Mr George Akufo Dampare in office, he accepted the request and approved the creation of the Nkwatia Divisional Police Command to boost security in the Kwahu enclave.
